Structural Design

Structural Design &Analysis

We analyse and design RCC and steel structures, with calculations and drawings, for contractors, developers and consultants in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman and India.

What we deliver

Every deliverable, clearly scoped

  1. RCC building design

Slabs, beams, columns, walls and cores designed for low-rise to high-rise buildings.

  2. Steel structure design

Portal frames, trusses, mezzanines and multi-storey steel frames, with member and stability checks.

  3. Foundation design

Isolated, combined, raft and pile foundations designed from soil data and column loads.

  4. Load calculations

Dead, live, wind and seismic loads, taken down through the structure to the foundations.

  5. Structural analysis

3D models in ETABS, SAFE and STAAD.Pro, with checks on drift, deflection and stability.

  6. Design calculations and reports

Clear calculation packages and design basis reports, ready for consultant and authority review.

  7. Structural drawings

General arrangement, reinforcement details and sections, drawn from the approved design.

  8. Value-engineered systems

Optimised sections, spans and slab systems that reduce concrete, steel and rebar without losing safety.

  9. Retrofit and strengthening

Checks on existing structures and strengthening design for added loads or a change of use.

  10. Steel connection design

Bolted and welded connections, base plates and anchor bolts, designed and detailed for fabrication.

  11. Basements and retaining walls

Basement walls, retaining walls and water tanks designed for earth and water pressure.

  12. Revit and Tekla models

Structural models that carry design intent into coordination, shop drawings and fabrication.

Load path

How a building carries its weight

Every load finds its way to the ground along the stiffest route. Follow one from the roof slab, through the frame and the footings, into the soil.

Dead loadLive loadSlabBeamsColumnsFoundationsSoil
  1. Slab

Collects dead load (self-weight, finishes) and live load (people, use).

  2. Beams

Carry the slab load sideways, in bending, to the columns.

  3. Columns

Carry it down storey by storey, collecting more at every floor.

  4. Foundations

Spread the column load over an area the soil can carry.

  5. Soil

Takes it as a pressure bulb that fades with depth.

How we work

From your drawings to handover

  1. Send drawings and brief

Share architectural drawings, your brief and any soil report on WhatsApp or email.

  2. Scope and quote

We confirm the structural system, governing codes and deliverables, then send a quote.

  3. Analyse and design

Our engineers model, analyse and design the structure, with internal checks on every calculation and drawing.

  4. Review and revisions

You or your consultant review the package. We revise for comments and approval requirements.

  5. Handover in your formats

You receive calculations and drawings in the formats you need, such as PDF, DWG or native model files.

Bending, shear and deflection

Bend the beam

Drag the load along a simply supported 6 m beam and change its size. Reactions, shear and moment follow the statics; the deflection is drawn exaggerated so you can see it.

Drag the arrow along the beam, or use the sliders.

Deflection is drawn about 25 times larger than real. Values use EI = 30 000 kN·m², a typical cracked concrete beam, for illustration.

Load 60 kN at 2.40 m from support A. Reaction at A 36.0 kN, at B 24.0 kN. Maximum moment 86.4 kN·m. Maximum deflection 8.5 mm.

In their words

What our clients say

  • CBG has supported us with structural design, shop drawing and BOQ requirements across our past few projects. It has been a great experience and we look forward to having them onboard for future projects.
Mohamed SamiudeenGeneral Manager, Vision Development Project
  • We've collaborated with CBG for QS, structural and 3D design services on multiple occasions. They have a friendly, energetic team that always delivers quality work — even the minute details from meetings are reflected in their BOQs.

Structural Design · Questions

Straight answers

What structural design services does CBG provide?

CBG analyses and designs RCC and steel structures, including foundations, basements and retaining walls. We deliver load calculations, design reports and structural drawings, plus steel connection design, value-engineered alternatives and retrofit checks. The work serves contractors, developers and consultants in Qatar, the GCC and India.

Which countries and codes do you design to?

We design to the local code of the project's country, plus accepted international codes where the project requires them. That includes QCS in Qatar, SBC in Saudi Arabia, the Dubai and Abu Dhabi building codes in the UAE, and IS codes such as IS 456 and IS 800 in India, with Eurocodes, ACI and AISC.

Do you design both RCC and steel structures?

Yes. We design reinforced concrete and structural steel buildings. Analysis is carried out in ETABS, SAFE and STAAD.Pro, and models and drawings are produced in Revit, Tekla and AutoCAD. Steel work includes members, bracing and bolted or welded connections.

Can you assess an existing building for strengthening?

Yes. We check existing structures against new loads or a change of use, using drawings, survey data and test results. Where the structure falls short, we design the strengthening and issue the calculations and drawings for it.

Do your calculations and drawings go to authorities?

Authority submissions are normally made through the project's licensed consultant. We prepare the calculation reports and structural drawings in the form consultants and authorities review, and revise them against comments.

How do I get a quote for structural design?

Send your architectural drawings and brief on WhatsApp to +974 7048 5638. We review them, confirm the structural system and codes, and send you a quote. You can also email info@carbonblueglobal.com.
